Since September 2009 I have been working at Frontier Developments Ltd in Cambridge - which has kept me very busy (as you can tell by the news update timeline!). I worked on the Kinect launch game Kinectimals and am currently working on an exciting unnannounced project. My personal work has had a reshift of priorities - prioritised by time! I am now running a blog over at http://martinhoulden.blogspot.com which I update at least a couple of times a week and is focused mainly on the project one last chance at the moment. I have put all other projects on the side for now so I can focus all my efforts on this. This means I will be cutting down on this website so that it is a more static gallery and portfolio site (when I find the time that is ;)) Thanks for reading! 25th September 2009 Oddly, about a month since my last update. So anyway, I will be getting round to uploading my new pictures, as well as getting onto that OLC section, which is now on its 9th page. It's been going pretty slowly (especially considering how much there is to get through), but it's been a learning process too. Anyway, on with it I suppose ... ALSO All hi-res versions of the PSO pictures have been removed - for bandwidth reasons. Hope you grabbed them whilst you could! 24th August 2009 Ages since my last update - will get some new stuff up soon-ish! I guess the biggest news is that I've finally started onelastchance in its proper form - this will actually be the 5th start attempt, so I'm gonna make this one stick! Expect the OLC section to be updated soon. 1st July 2009 Been busy over the last week with doing pictures and catching up with friends - had one of my best mates over for the weekend which was awesome. However the biggest update is that I got my 4 year university degree result today - and passed with first class honours! So as much as I finished a couple of months back, I'm pleased to finally be able to close the door on the whole experience - and be able to do it in a good way by meeting up with a mate that I made through it and having a great weekend, as well as it all having been worth it because of the grade. I'm sure I will write a little memoir of it all or something for posterity's sake, in case I forget how I actually felt at the time (I often suffer from rose-tinted glasses so its good to record stuff whilst its fresh!). Other than that, I saw the new Terminator movie (surprisingly awesome!) and the new Transformers movie (surprisingly disappointing!). Looking at my site now I'm really gonna have to do some kind of archive feature for these updates ... 19th June 2009 Updated the site with 4 new pics, categorised and all that. Also, for a limited time only, the new RAcast picture is available in super-high resolution on this site only - so if you want it, grab it whilst you can! 16th June 2009 Since updating my site I've done 3 pictures - but I will wait until I've done my fourth before uploading them. In future this might be 6 at a time, who knows. Had family visiting over the weekend, and keeping myself physically active during the great weather! My 360 has been sent off to be repaired as it RROD'ed on me, and I've gotten back into playing Civ4 as I've discovered with a friend that you can play a game online and save it, and resume it later! Great guns! Also, my 40k army is going well - 1500 points all built and ready to be undercoated, huzzah! Thats it for now, will be back with the new pics soon! 11th June 2009 I've mostly finished the content for the reboot of the site! Which is great because well ... I've been putting it off for years, and now it's (mostly) done. Still a few holes here and there, but the stuff I have yet to add is actually fun and interesting stuff to do - like character illustrations and pages. Hoorah! All in all, the entire site-building thing has gone surprisingly swimmingly. I was expecting loads of problems (you know how doing new stuff with computers can be) but really it was all quite straightforward, allowing me to get on with getting stuff done! Over time I will snazz the place up I'm sure, little pictures here and there (at the moment it's very text heavy). But the main thing is it's certainly in a better state than my last build which pretty much consisted of one giant page saying "under construction", and a link to my deviantart page. Nice to finally be able to point people towards my work whilst being in control of exactly how and what stuff is seen. Goodness! 8th June 2009 Very pleased to announce that I will be featuring in the 'Colours' book project, alongside some of my favourite artists! Very exciting. I will be providing more info on this once I'm able to. Other than that, work is going well on the website, as most of the dirty work is now done! Probably about 3/4 done on the whole thing now, which will be great as I will be able to easily add new content as time goes on. 6th June 2009 Been working on the plan for the new PSO Series - the first picture I will be doing is a RAcast entitled "Remote Shutdown". As well as this I've been checking out Depeche Mode and Sonic Youth, and my 40k Tau army is coming along well - almost ready to undercoat everything! (finally!) 3rd June 2009 Had a great week with friends and family after finishing uni just a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately hampered by mid-week receiving the news that I won't be going back to my previous employer as hoped/expected/was lead to believe. This means I am now officially a freelance Concept Artist, which is both exciting and daunting. However, despite my disappointment I will be persisting on looking on the situation with optimism, a new start and an opportunity for new things. As much as I had planned to take 2 months off after finishing university anyway, this has come as a big blow to me. Once the website is complete, it will be full steam ahead on everything else.

Site Updates   6th July 2009 Uploaded two new pictures to the PSO Series 2 2009 - HUcaseal and HUmar! Available in HI-RES for a short period of time, so grab them whilst they're up! 23rd June 2009 Uploaded 1 new picture to the PSO Series 2 2009 - FOnewearl this time. Normally i'd upload 4 or so at a time but I'm making the hi-res versions available for download! 19th June 2009 Uploaded 4 new pictures - 2 in Original Characters, 1 in Original Composition and 1 in Fanart PSO. Heres the thumbs: 11th June 2009 Fantasy Fighters project section has had its "background" area updated. The characters section is being worked on but some assets need to be made first. 9th June 2009 Most of the content (outside of projects) is now complete. There will always be stuff to go in the FAQ section but it's mostly done for now! All that's left to do now is the projects sections, but they can almost be considered separate anyway. 8th June 2009 All 'personal work' categories have full content now, and every image in 'professional work' and 'personal work' are now clickable to a full version. 6th June 2009 All 'personal work" sections are now clickable with content. Most images also now have a large version to click to, and the rest should be up before the end of the day. 3rd June 2009 Work starts again on the website, continuing on adding more content. So far all pictures are visible as thumbnail only, but will be clickable soon with the full images. 23rd May 2009 Lots of stuff added to the personal work section - 'compositions' and 'characters'. The links aren't clickable yet, but i'm working on it and it should be available soon. Unfortunately for the progress of the site, the weather today is simply too nice to waste! 22nd May 2009 No work done today - busy week ahead and been preparing for it. Tomorrow will be full steam ahead and I plan to get most of the work in total done. We'll see! 21st May 2009 After yesterday's semi-day off (although I did make some progress on the personal-work section), work continues on getting that up to date. Simply falls down to the laborious thankless job of creating thumbnails and putting on watermarks for all the images. However much like alphabeticising your DVD collection, once it's done it doesn't need doing again and makes life a lot easier so ... on I plod! 20th May 2009 Mini day-off today, focusing on other stuff for today but I've uploaded my web-safe CV which can be downloaded by clicking the button on the menu. Still working on the system I will use for the personal work section ... don't want to overload it with too much stuff, would be good to be selective about what I show. Also want to make it easy and obvious to navigate. Cool! 19th May 2009 Making continued progress on website - today focusing on the "personal work" section, as well as adding copyright information where appropriate. Decided on fully integrating the 'personal work' section, and working on making a portfolio available as download as well as a web-suitable CV. 18th May 2009 Continuing work on updating website - adding content and editing layout and look. Trying to cut down on clutter, and making important information available easily. Added new images to "professional work" section. 17th May 2009 Started new website design - focusing on streamlining and focusing efforts in the right places!
